PRELUDE

Music by Andrew Prete

WELCOME

Welcome to The Pub Church! As a church in a pub, the Spirit is with us. In this space feel free to move about, order drinks/food, doodle, and express ideas openly!

We come together with diversity of thoughts, stories, talents, hopes and hurts. All we bring is welcome; our prayer is that in coming together with all our differences and with Spirit, we participate toward a new divine reality. This is sacred space.

OPENING PRAYER

by Pat Kozak, Life Prayers (p. 193)

Rise up, child of earth

Let life rise up in you,

full-term, new-born.

Time enough in wondrous darkness,

Echoed sounds of voices, stirrings,

splashings of new life.

Relinquish to memory this one mystery

We yearn to know and will again

in after-death.

So much latent

still to rise

Until our risings lifts us to a depth

that questions every truth

we’ve ever known.

Mud-stirred of first clay.

Plaything of a potter who fell in love

with her hands’ work.

Blessed be her handiwork.

Blessed be the work of her hands.

Blessed be.

TELLING OUR STORY

First pub church stories

PEACE – TOAST

In this place we creatively express;

Some of us are focused, some are a mess!

We participate during the sermon

And people do connect, we are learnin’

Greet all with a handshake, toast or a wave

At all times feel free to yell, rant or rave

Fake not friends, we can arrive as we are.

Cheers! Here’s to sacred space in a bar!

CONVERSATIONAL SERMON

Mark 1:1-8

The good news of Jesus the Anointed begins with something Isaiah the prophet wrote:

            Here is my messenger,

whom I send on ahead of you

            to prepare your way!

A voice of someone shouting in the wilderness:

“Make ready the way of the Lord,

            Make his paths straight.”

So John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness calling for baptism and a change of heart that lead to forgiveness of sins.
