Visit us on Facebook!

Hello!

We're a church that meets in a pub in Boston.

As you can tell by the lack of entries, we do not update this site very well. However, please do visit us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ThePubChurchBoston and see what' we've been up to.

Our gatherings continue weekly, every Saturday at 5:00pm at the Dugout - a fun divey place at 722 Commonwealth Ave., basement level, just off the Green Line (B) at the BU Central stop.

Here is the welcome statement you'll be greeted with every week:

Welcome to The Pub Church! We are a church in a pub and
the Spirit is with us. In this place, feel free to move about,
help yourself to food and drink, and express yourself openly!

We come together with a variety of thoughts, stories,
talents, hopes, and hurts; All we bring is welcome. We pray
that in coming together with all our differences and with
Spirit, we participate in a new divine reality. This is sacred space.

Every week is a little bit different, but some things we keep the same - come and experience it for yourself! See you there!

Atheism for Lent

For the next 7 weeks of lent, The Pub Church will be entering a season of doubt. For seven weeks we will intentionally consider the possibility of being wrong about what we believe. What if every time we affirm God, Goddess, Spirit, Divine, we simultaneously affirm something less than God? What if the God we affirm, whoever She is, is always a delusion formed from the materials of our imagination and desires? During Atheism for Lent, we will allow ourselves to sit with this possibility and allow ourselves to experience the absence of God. God is not with us. We will not pray.

https://www.facebook.com/ThePubChurchBoston

Atheism for Lent is created and inspired by Peter Rollins. He is known for saying, "To believe is human. To doubt, divine." He offers us an invitation to hold our convictions lightly and be willing to judge and interrogate ourselves. This is what we are doing at the pub church during the next seven week. May we recognize and remember our own experiences of the absence of the presence of God.

The Pub Church turns 3 today!

The Pub Church turns 3 years old! Three years ago we got together to help form a church we felt good about participating in, that would be fun, and where we could encounter the Divine and one another anew. Well, we're still at it! learning new things along the way and sticking to some of the old too - like eating and drinking together!

So, let's celebrate! We will be celebrating with a potluck dinner that will be extra delicious! And it will be organized so that it's all well balanced. ** Let me know if you would like to bring something delicious to contribute. You can email me, Xochitl, at xalvizo-at-gmail-dot-com.
